it's not easy livin' the life…

Downtown LA was once again littered with cars last weekend.  Unlike any other day tho it wasn’t just random cars you see on the street.  Causing traffic and breaking necks in Alameda and 1st early in the morning is a cesspool of automotive awesomeness.  The Final (Riiiiggghhttt…. ) Nisei was held AGAIN last weekend at the same traditional spot in Little Tokyo.  It has been a tradition for all of us to go, chill, have a few drinks… non-alcoholic of course… and just have fun with a bunch of friends.  Nisei always brings out the best of the best.  Mostly Hondas but you can never go wrong with that.  Love how the game has changed from a long time ago.  Now it’s all about the wire tuck, funky engine bay paints, and the ever popular flush-tastic offset on the wheels.  Glad to see that everyone has been stepping up their game and I’m happy to see that everything is improving every year.  Hope the trend won’t fade and will always get better.  Let’s not go back to the vinyl interiors please.  Here’s a quick preview of what happened in the show.  Here is the Joey of The Chronicles Booth with the Chronicles Top 10 picks.  Well, top 6 I guess hehe.

I’ll post the rest later.  Let’s pray that lazyness won’t own me.

Here’s Original Runduce’s CR-Z… what a difference a set of wheel makes!  Well, they did a whole lot of other stuff and not just the wheels but damn.  I really dig it.

Before…

Some Suspension Goodies…A

And After… Niceeeeeee

Here’s a few Hondas that I dig last Spocom San Mateo.  Check it.

This S2K was nice but the stickers kinda over did it.  A little more subtle approach on it would have suffice since the kevlar on black already stands out like crazy.  Still clean engine bay but still it looks pretty messy and busy.

This NSX is pretty stock but it’s still an NSX so I’m down for it.  It’s like seeing a cute girl with short skirts and boots.  I just have to like it one way or the other hehe.

MMmmmmm tempting but probably no…. opinions?

I love how the CR-Z Gauge Cluster Look.  It’s so futuristic.  It reminds me of that one movie with Tom Cruise… Aaaah Top Gun.  Wait no the other futuristic one.   Screw it I’ll stick with Top Gun.

“You’re my boy Blue… You’re my boy” – Top Gun… No?! Fuck! Wrong movie again!!!

That has been a question in my mind.  What we see here is the Honda HSV-010.  The NSX that never was.  I mean look at it.  It’s sexy as fuck, it sounds amazing and, well, it looks pretty damn fast.  Granted these are scenes of what looks like an upcoming JGTC Car, but hot damn.  If a production car will even be half as good as this, then damn, sign me up.

For the past few days I’ve been plagued with the thought of getting rid of the Evo and picking up something else. A few weeks ago Mr. JDMego and I has been chatting till the wee hours of the morning about going back to Honda. Him getting an FD2 and me picking up an S2K but not really going for broke and build it as much as we do now but something subtle that you can daily drive. Don’t get me wrong this Evo I drive on the daily but the thoughs of getting pulled over everytime I take it out is always on your mind. Looking at all your mirrors to see if someone is tailing you is really annoying. That’s where the whole building a subtle Honda topic came in. I don’t know really, I’ve been on this road before but I always find a way to keep this beast. Like last week when I drove the car to Vegas for a day. It was extremely comfortable at high speeds (i was cruising at 90mph and up the whole way) that it just made me fall in love with her all over again.

Another car that I’ve been itching to get is an E46 and shying away from the JDM tip. I’ve been chatting with my buddy Billy about it since he has one which he’s offering to me for a very decent price. I mean my car isn’t the most subtle ride for going out with a girl. Fortunately I haven’t heard any complaints since they think it’s a dope ride but then comfort is thrown out of the window. I really don’t know. Sometimes we just have to let go I guess.

Either way I love this car and maybe I should just get a more subtle suspension system and a quieter exhaust. But what’s the point tho. This car was never built with comfort as a prime factor. It’s a performance car and that’s what I built it for. I guess I’ll just let time decide. Maybe I’ll get rid of it or maybe not. But all I know right now is that’s it’s time for a new project.

I love you but sometimes I just have to let you go... Maybe...

As a yearly tradition Nisei carshow is held in the little town called Los Angeles in a spot aptly named Little Tokyo.  Hosted by mainstream productions Nissei brings out the best of the best in the JDM Scene.  Unlike all the other shows out there, in Nisei Showoff, there is no need for crazy bling, no glitz and glamour, no prize for a fantabulous displays, but all it is is what you have in your car.  It’s a CARshow.

It was a very hot and humid day but still people flock around the awesome show cars.  We brought out 14 cars for our crew and did a pretty awesome job with the show.  Not that many awesome quality cars like past Nissei’s but there are some that certainly grabbed my attention.  One of which is this old school DA1 (correct me if i’m wrong) 86-89 integra.  Cleaaaan car.  I actually saw him cruise by on the way to the show down the 101 and immediately grabbed my attention.  Props to this car and owner.  He’s sporting an Old School HKS license plate holder too.  Not sure if he won tho but i’d give him something just for keeping that car nice and clean inside and out.  To think this car has been around for over 20 years and it’s still immaculate.  It is indeed gangsta!!

Of course there are the usual people.  There’s Lisa Uchida and the crew, Tommy Ha and his, now boosted, S2K, Albert Chang’s whored out (JK) S2K, Team Hybrid and 200 of their cars and Rudy’s Gold Plated RSX to name a few.  Since it’s Nisei there’s a plethora of Hondas, Mostly Hatches, that showed up.

A cool one that was there was a Honda Element with A K24 and ARC Bits.  Pretty cool since it’s a rare thing to see both in the show scene and on the streets. Now with the heat baring down upon us, I just want to say thank you to everybody that brought a canopy.  Also thank you Edwin from autoimportcraze[dot]com and using his brain to bring a cooler filled with ice and refreshments.  Also to Riceboy TV for giving away some Popsicles.  But just to say Fuck You to the heat, we just ended up walking to a nearby restaurant and have lunch in a AC filled room… Ended up in Ebisu… Restaurant not the circuit.  Good shit for a reasonable price.

As the day died down, so did the crowd and the time we’ve been waiting for has come upon us.  The Awarding.  We did pretty well as always clenching the best of shows and the best team awards (was there any doubt hehe jk)  and being the big asses that we are, we took one of our AC Elite Canopy and planted it right in the middle of the awarding ceremony for us and others to share the shade it provided.  After all we are nice people.  Anyhoo here’s the breakdown on how we did and what we won.

1. 2nd place Infinity – JR
2. 2nd place Acura – Cuco
3. 2nd place Scion – Arthur
4. 1st place Nissan – Angelo
5. Subaru Showoff – Jorge
6. Toyota Showoff – Richard
7. BMW Showoff – Dennis
8. S2k Showoff – Jon
9. Mitsubishi Showoff – Karen
10. Custom Showoff – Ben RX7
11. EXC Best of Show – Ben 350Z
12. Best Team Overall (Highest Point Average) – Some guys called Auto Concept Elite.  Wait that’s us.

Not too shabby I say.  But congratulations to everyone else that won.  And I just want to thank Ken Mioshi and Mainstream for another awesome show.  Hope you guys bring back Classics.

Congratulations again guys.  We rock as always!!

Honda recently announced the new Accord for the European market.  Total redesign of the car but kept the same shape of most of the new Hondas that are coming out these days.  Not complaining tho I think it looks pretty aggressive.  Offering 2 different engines which are the 2.0 motor, same as it’s predecessor.  And a 2.4 motor that produces about 40 more horses than the smaller 2.0.  Now all I’m waiting for is the new Euro-R that hopefully be released soon.  I’m guessing a new model of the US version of the car, the Acura TSX, is just on the horizon.  Now all we’re hoping is for the Euro-R version to be released here in the US too.  With a little bit of power and a much more aggressive look I think the Euro-R has a bright future.  Can’t wait!  Now for a RWD Sedan … HA!
